We are a not-for-profit Trust that, up until 2021, provided affordable housing support where this was required for Uniting Church ministers and/or their spouses in retirement.
The Spicer Cottages Trust (Spicer Trust) was established in 1897 by original benefactor Edward Spicer, who in early 1897 proposed ‘to make some provision in the way of homes: first, for ministers’ widows; and second, for supernumerary ministers who may be in straitened circumstances.
In 2021, Spicer Cottages Trust sold our stock of dwellings including five two-bedroom units at Payneham and Magill, two adjacent three-bedroom town houses at Athelstone and stand-alone three-bedroom dwellings at Rostrevor and Felixstow, to Adelaide Benevolent Society who were able to continue to support the existing tenants.
We are now in a period of transition where we are assessing the current need in the affordable housing space and where we can best donate our money.
We invite you to contact us if you are in need of housing support in South Australia.
